HAAM announces ALL ATX Benefit Day concert, featuring all-star local lineup
If Austin hopes to continue fostering its dynamic music scene, it needs to keep local musicians healthy. That’s been the credo of the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, and it will once again call on the community to help provide access to affordable healthcare to musicians with the annual HAAM Benefit Day on September 24.
HAAM Benefit Day is a citywide event of local businesses pledging five percent of the day’s proceeds to HAAM. Over 240 businesses — including Whole Foods Market, C3 Presents and Thundercloud Subs — and 250 participating bands helped propel HAAM to raise a record $312,000 last year.
But the real highlight of the day is ALL ATX – The Concert at ACL Live packed with an all-star lineup of the best musicians who call Austin home. Headliners include Ray Benson, Jimmie Vaughan, Suzanna Choffel, Charlie and Will Sexton and plenty more. Tickets went on sale Friday, so grab them quick for a night celebrating Austin musicians.
The concert will even feature unique collaborations from the talent heavy ALL STAR CD, spotlighting 15 tracks of musicians combining their talents for an album set to be released on September 16. Even if you can’t make it out to the Moody Theater, KLRU-TV will tape the show and broadcast it later this fall so you can sit back and enjoy it at home.
Randy Miller, a Grammy-award winning engineer and producer, believes that the ALL ATX concert is a can’t-miss event. “It’s unlikely that you’ll ever see all of these artists on one stage again,” he says.
Shelley Meyer, co-owner of Wild About Music and Austin Rocks, expresses her own appreciation for the efforts of HAAM and its Benefit Day. She says, “Music is the lifeblood of Austin and the musicians carry that legacy forward for us every day, often at low pay and with no benefits. I am proud to help give back to our musicians, and HAAM is that lifeline that gives us all a chance to participate and say thank you.”
You can purchase your tickets for the ALL ATX concert online or at the ACL Live box office. Keep an eye on the HAAM website for a complete list of participating businesses and performance schedules so you can help keep music alive and well in Austin.
