Project Description

In 2020, Buie & Co. served as the public involvement agency of record for the City of Kyle’s public education campaign in support of a $37 million bond proposal to finance the construction of a Public Safety Center.

The new facility was needed to accommodate the public safety needs of the rapidly growing municipality that had experienced a 724% population increase over the previous two decades and was using temporary facilities to accommodate its expanding police department and support staff.

Buie & Co. worked closely with City staff and council members to lead the public education efforts aimed at ensuring voters had the necessary factual information in order to make an informed decision in the election. The Buie & Co. team developed messaging, tested it with key stakeholders, and finalized it to use in collateral pieces throughout the campaign. In addition to creating the bond brand, Buie & Co. produced an informational video, fact sheets, FAQs, social media content and graphics and environmental signage, including street pole flags.

With the election taking place during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the City and Buie & Co. faced unprecedented challenges, particularly organizing events for direct public engagement. Our team quickly adapted, using technology to host one hybrid and four virtual community meetings to educate voters on the bond proposal.

On Election Night, Proposition A for a new Public Safety Center passed with over 55 percent of the vote.
